Just a quick note to say that I’m part of the, uh, faculty at the Centre for Digital Media this coming weekend. They’re running a series of workshops called Web Impact: Master Your Domain. Here’s the blurb:
Experts in Advertising, User Experience and Design, Analytics and Social Media will instruct individuals and businesses on the fundamentals of online promotion, marketing and advertising. Participants will learn how to harness the power of Search Engine Optimization, Google Analytics, Facebook, and a variety of Page Ranking and Web Analysis tools to help optimize and drive traffic to their websites.
Oy, with the capitalization. Anyhow, I’m teaching a three-hour social media marketing session on Sunday. It’s a steal at $595 for all the sessions. Send your marketing folks the CDM to, you know, get clueful.
Yay! Another event in Vancouver. Darren are you doing anything in Victoria while you’re here? I would be interested in coming to see you speak.
Heh. I’d be happy to do more speaking stuff in Victoria. It just happens that the invitations I receive are coming from elsewhere.
Julie and I are running a session at ‘Beyond the Hype’ on November 14, which I gather is the annual event for the local chapter of the Canadian Public Relations Society.
Thanks for the info. Looks fascinating – I’m not sure it relates to my work enough for them to let me go to it, but it does relate quite a bit to my interests and schooling. Do you do anything with the GDC? I am a member..
I haven’t done anything with the GDC, but would be glad to if they wanted to have me.
Would this workshop be enough for someone trying to get into online marketing? And when I say “enough”, I mean running a competent but small online campaign.
Norlinda: I’d say this would make for a pretty good grounding, certainly. I’m happy to send you a copy of our ebook, too, which would hopefully be of some help.
@ Norlinda:
Hey there – I’m helping out with the program at the school this weekend, Web Impact. To answer your question in a word, yes.
Overall, you’ll take away a lot of knowledge from different perspectives – the instructors are people from a wide variety in web world who all are responsible for marketing online and driving traffic, and they all have a lot of experience and do it very well.
Maybe on specifics, the 2 sessions for a participant like yourself looking for getting an info on running an online campaign would be the Analytics session on Sat. and the Social Media on Sunday for that all important network outreach and strategies.
Hope that helps.
Thank you Darren and Megan.
i’m hoping work will send me to it! cross your fingers that there will be budget 🙂
