Because I remember, way back in high school, that I could go to a movie on Tuesday night for the princely sum of $2.50. Now it’s $8.75 on Tuesday nights at Tinseltown. That’s quite a bit of inflation in twenty years.

It’s not just inflation; movie-going has gotten more expensive. When I used the Bank of Canada inflation calculator, it says $2.50 in 1990 (20 years ago, as you said) is worth $3.74 in 2010…. not $8.75.
That was university for me, not high school, but it was a good deal. I believe regular movies were $5.00 at the time, or $7.48 in today’s dollars — still cheaper than the current “special.”
But just think of how much better the movies are these days!
Oh, wait…
But that rocking chair stadium seat rules over that old beach chair of a seat! (WITH NO CUP HOLDER)
matinees (any show before 6pm) all week & weekend at the Tinseltown here in Oklahoma City are only $3.75US.
so. awesome.
