As regular readers know, I have an ongoing interest in tattoos (despite not having any). As it happens, the blog post I wrote back in 2005 about textual tattoos gets more search engine traffic than any single article on this site.
Today, via Springwise, I discovered TatMash. It enables you to pick or upload a tattoo design, then upload a photo of your body, and see what the finished result looks like. I suppose any competent Photoshop user could achieve the same result, but it seemed like a worthwhile service. I’m surprised that they haven’t enabled a photo gallery section, where people can view and vote on the resulting tattoos + bodies.
The part about the site that actually interested me, though, was the Popular Tattoos page. This not only shows a list and pie chart (who doesn’t love a pie chart?) indicating which tattoos people prefer, but also a kind of a hot spot diagram indicating where on the body people are test-driving their tattoos. It’s surprisingly, uh, pelvis-centered. Or perhaps that’s not surprising?
