Test Drive Your Tattoo

As regular readers know, I have an ongoing interest in tattoos (despite not having any). As it happens, the blog post I wrote back in 2005 about textual tattoos gets more search engine traffic than any single article on this site.

Today, via Springwise, I discovered TatMash. It enables you to pick or upload a tattoo design, then upload a photo of your body, and see what the finished result looks like. I suppose any competent Photoshop user could achieve the same result, but it seemed like a worthwhile service. I’m surprised that they haven’t enabled a photo gallery section, where people can view and vote on the resulting tattoos + bodies.

The part about the site that actually interested me, though, was the Popular Tattoos page. This not only shows a list and pie chart (who doesn’t love a pie chart?) indicating which tattoos people prefer, but also a kind of a hot spot diagram indicating where on the body people are test-driving their tattoos. It’s surprisingly, uh, pelvis-centered. Or perhaps that’s not surprising?

  1. *snort* Yeah, I don’t think a lot of people are actually tattooing their junk. Ow, anyway.

the link to my tattoo on your previous post is still my #1 viewed pic on flickr, mostly thanks to referrals from your post. 🙂

since then, I’ve gotten another textual tattoo.

Let’s see if it’ll be as popular a link.. 🙂

  2. wish they’d have had fancy stuff like that in 1994 so i’d not have a Tigger Tattoo on my ankle, but then again, ALL of my tattoos tell a story, and in that regard, i wouldn’t change and/or move any of them. thank Hanuman i never got a tramp stamp though… i am from two very small towns, it coulda happened. phew.

  3. I’m impressed, I ought to say. Genuinely rarely do you encounter a weblog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you may have hit the nail about the head. Your concept is outstanding; ab muscles something that too few men and women are speaking intelligently about. I’m delighted i found this in my hunt for something about it.
