Link Round-Up: Interesting Stuff I’ve Been Too Busy to Write About

I gave up on these for a while, but they’re starting to sneak back into my blogging habits. By the end of the week, I inevitably have five or eight cool things open in Firefox tabs which I never get around to covering. I believe that Tim calls this a tab sweep, which seems an apt name:

• Via WebAnalysts.Info, there’s 3-D Mailbox, a new project from the folks who made the innovative Visitor Ville (I interviewed VV’s creator back in 2004). Your first response will probably be like mine: “that looks totally absurd”. On the other hand, it might be a piece of brilliant information visualization, and forever change the way we work with email. I doubt it, but I love the chutzpah it took to build and release 3-D Mailbox.
• Speaking of which, I’d seen the Periodic Table of Visualization Methods before, but never had a chance to really look at it. James sent me a link to Cool Tools, which covered it in a recent newsletter.
• Isn’t it about time to fire Gary Bettman and admit that hockey is a highly regional sport? The Stanley Cup finals enjoyed the lowest American television ratings (whoops, URL fixed) in the last twelve years. They got roundly beaten by FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance.
• Sam recently took a lovely photo of Leonard Cohen and Philip Glass in conversation.

UPDATE #2: Last thing. You can get a set of LOL Cats photos for your blog feed. The following is the only decent one from mine, but I’ll bet, say, FOX News’s feed might prove more entertaining.
