I get random email from strangers. Most of the time I can’t help them, but occasionally I can. I figure this is one such incidence. Rikke writes:
I have been searching everywhere in the airports I travel through and on the web for information on a certain gadget that one of my friends saw in the gadget shop in Amsterdam airport. From her description it’s a gadget that in principle works like the key rings that you whistle at and then it bibs to tell you where your keys are hiding.
With this unknown gadget that my friend saw you have a number of tags that you can tag your belongings – like credit cards, keys – with. If you then loose them you can use a central ‘remote control’ to make the tags bib.
I’m just guessing here, but Rikke probably isn’t from North America, and so, as cats sound different in every country, uses ‘bib’ for ‘beep’. Can anybody help him out?
a similar idea crossed my mind a coupel of xmas’s ago and i finally saw it on the tv a few months back:
basically it’s a radio frequency tag similr to the kind scientists attach to birds and stuff BUT the technology’s now a lot thinner.
sadly i’ve no idea where you get it from.

“always misplacing your glasses? Keys? Remote? PDA? Sharper Image’s Now You Can Find It!â„¢ locator puts a pager on all elusive things. Attach one of the system’s four RF receiver beeper discs to any object that seems to wander off by itself. Just press the corresponding button on the portable base. When you get within 30 feet of the misplaced object, its disc will emit a loud series of beeps to lead you. Each beeper disc secures to almost any object with its keyring or a double-sided adhesive pad.”
“Bib” is “beep” is French, although in Danish it can be “bip-lyd”, so maybe it’s a shortened version!? In Swedish, it is “pip”…
It’s called Find It, from Sharper Image. I used a previous version of it for a while, but the tags were really big and clunky.
