Last Words of Death Row Inmates

Well this is downright creepy. Somebody emailed me a link to a page on the Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s site. It lists the final words of 376 people executed by the state. A random sampling:

Yes sir. To Mr. Jerry Nutt, I just hope this brings some kind of peace to your family. I wish I could bring them back, but I can’t. I hope my death brings peace; don’t hang on to the hate. Momma, stay strong. Lord forgive me for my sins because here I come. Let’s go, Warden.

I just want to tell my Mom that I am sorry that I caused her so much pain and my family and stuff. I love them and I hurt for the the fact that they are going to be hurting. I really hate that; and that I’m hoping they are going to be O.K.

Be strong, brother. Be strong, my brother. Be strong, Mom. It’s going to be alright. I love all of you. Don’t forget that. Ironic, isn’t it? I’m a cross. Ya’ll take care of each other. I’ll be watching over you. Thank you, Dana……Yes.

Man that’s macabre. As we leave this world, we apparently think of those who brought us into it.

  1. Surely you missed printing this one:

“Okay I’ve been hanging around this popsicle stand way too long. Before I leave, I want to tell you all. When I die, bury me deep, lay two speakers at my feet, put some headphones on my head and rock and roll me when I’m dead. I’ll see you in Heaven someday.”

I assumed at first this was a lyric quotation, but a quick google search shows no source other than that prisoner. Maybe it’s an original composition.

  2. Kay, well I’ve read through the Texas Death row web site which lists all of the last statements and you can see what the inmate looked like and go through their prison records. The records go all the back to the 1980’s and though I havn’t read through all of them I’ve read enough – including mr. popcycle stand guy – that I was kinda creeped out by people even mentioning the name Jesus Christ. If you want to and it makes YOU feel better to do so, all the best – but I can FIRMLY state it is not so FIRM for an individual to mention my name, or the name of Jesus Christ during the procedure of being executed. Keep things to the people that are in the room would be more ideal and I find that the Jesus statements are born out of a brainwashed society which beleive Jesus will save. Jesus definitly will not have anything to do with you and it’s your only consolation that he realizes that these inmates are poor people locked into the chains by their oppresors, living on not even a prayer and the state of Texas a figured out a convenient way to a pay a bunch of glorified bums to tend to the executions, arrests, and interments, including cremations and what not and it’s all payed for by Joe Taxpayer who is firmed out of their 2 and a half cents in order to keep control and order. The laws, be them manmade, have been written for the rich and even Jesus Christ who knows everyone of your names noticed that the level of education for most of these people is grade 11 or less and even worse is the statistic that most of these individuals worked in manual labour type jobs and basically chose death by State rather than death by cop or death by suicide which they so obviously could not bring themselves to. DOn’t be thanking Jesus, praising Jesus or saying anything other than sorry Jesus for not being your friend. None of the people, not even the victims, are anything even close to what a friend of mine would look or sound like. It should be a shallow consolation prize for many of these death row inmates that their prize for suffering and ‘paying their dues’ so to speak will be a better life time in the next. Jesus Christ on the other hand lives in a society of CONQUERORS where he’s the only one who doesn’t cum to fuk’n get fuk’d. The inmates on death row – be them the people at the bottom of society – still cling to and side with the CONQUERORS and will find that they are rewarded for their awful lives in their next ones. Jesus Christ is only rewarded by maked one or two freinds and wouldn’t really want to come to such a world as this one because he understands the senselessness of cheap thrills and bone chills. It’s the world you create we call hell on earth and so with every Rapture must come a trial and some tribulation too. Let it be of some consolation that my trial will be in a court of supposed law made up of actors that purpotrate lawless crimes because they control the outcome so I better than anyone know of this imbalance within Justice or like I usually state – there is Injustice within Justice.
