Smelliest Bus Ever

Via James Mirtle, here’s an amusing story from the Western Hockey League:

Everett Silvertips coach Kevin Constantine has been fined $5,000 (U.S.) and suspended four games by the Western Hockey League for excessively punishing his players after a loss.

The Silvertips were beaten 5-0 by Tri-City during a pre-season tournament Sunday and Constantine had the players remain in their gear for a post-game meal and the four-hour bus ride back to Everett.

I never played competitive hockey growing up, but I’ve smelled my fair share of hockey players. I hope the Silvertips tooks their post-game meal in a private dining room.

  1. Good on them. It’s too bad for the players, but I’m happy to see management get theirs.

The Silvertips sent scouts to help other teams beat the Giants at the Memorial Cup last year.

The league said it technically wasn’t against any WHL rules, but I’m hoping this is a sign that the WHL will make sure Everett keeps their collective noses extra clean this year.

    Ryan.

  2. This guy sat down next to me at the ’06 draft at GM Place. He was a super nice guy and loved by a lot of people around him. Be interesting to see how the (rabid) Silvertips fans take it.
