Cool Typing Game

I’m probably among the oldest people (at least, without getting into the real outliers) who learned to type on a computer. Though I think we had a word processor/typewriter thingy, I started typing correctly and in earnest around 1985 or 1986, when we acquired our monster IBM PC. I didn’t take typing in school, which seemed to me to be an enormous bore and a waste of time.

There were few, if any, cool games to help teach me. Thanks to Suw, I just discovered this nifty typing game. I got 723 on my first try–I don’t know if that’s lame, excellent, or somewhere in between. I think I type about 60 words per minute normally.

  1. 1484 on the first try, but now my brain hurts.

I got my first computer in 1995, but I write code all day so that keeps my speed up.

    1. Yes! I too used and LOVED letterfall! I’ve been looking for it for my elderly father who wants to learn to use the computer. If you know where I could get a copy now, please contact me (cyvonn@verizon.net). You were right, that was THE typing game.

  2. Sorry, I misread the post. I thought you wrote “on a typewriter.” Damn that brain. You were right the first time.

I’m older than you (36), and while I had occasionally tried out typewriters like my mom’s, I didn’t really *learn* to type until we got a TRS-80 Model I in 1980. So while my mom learned on a typewriter, I think I can beat you here.

  3. I learn typing since 2001 and I type 90 words per minute. I’m almost 15 years old only. It’s not the years that make the experience. 😛

  4. y isn’t there any fun games on here dude????????? You need to put some on here for us to play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
