The holiday Web surfer tends to encounter a preponderance of lists. Here are some of the more interesting ones I’ve happened upon:
- Nearly 12,000 links to music videos, all on the same page. The list was generated programmatically, so not every link is accurate or active. I took a moment to watch the charming video for Alanis Morissette’s “Unsent” (among many others–that page is one big time suck). I didn’t know that it had originally been shot as a 10-minute short film.
- 50 hacks to improve your life.
- 10 things your fitness club won’t tell you. Here’s a tip–save your money and go running.
- The BBC’s entertaining list of 100 things we learned in 2006. I didn’t know, for example, that “standard-sized condoms are too big for most Indian men”.
- Of course, there’s an exhaustive list of 2006 lists over at Filmoculous.
Here’s a totally unrelated link to an amusing Fark Photoshop contest. Check out the original and then this entry. Here’s the whole enchilada.
UPDATE: Speaking of lists, I’m currently near the top of this Z-list thingee. Feel free to vote for me if you’re so inclined. If you’ve never been to Squidoo, you should surf around a bit–it’s really gracefully designed. I really like the widgets they produce:
http://www.squidoo.com/scripts/plexo/syndicate.php?plex_id=2114
openPlexo({
“container” : “plex2114”,
“num_results” : “10”
});
Huh. If the widget actually worked on this site, it would look cool. Don’t know what’s up with that. Here’s an example.
When I was first trying Squidoo out, I created a couple of lenses for Stephen King’s Dark Tower books and Tofino, BC.

Man, do you not have a New Years party to go to to keep you away from this level of surfing?
