I recently uploaded six crappy photos from my lousy phone camera, and they all have a little story associated with them. You can click the photo thumbnails to see slightly larger, slightly less crappy versions. Here they are:
A common sight in and around Vancouver–the fake accident scene. There’s always a little cognitive dissonance when I see ambulances and police cars in Vancouver that are not painted in the colours of the local paramedic and police services.
Language schools are everywhere in Vancouver, and the students often get ghettoized. I was in visiting the guys at 2Paths Solutions, and spotted this sign in the 4th floor hallway. At least the students get exercise when they go outside to smoke.
I was recently in Ottawa, and needed to print something out from the Westin’s business centre. To their inestimable credit, they had installed Firefox on their public use computers. I happily used it to access my Writely Google Documents and Spreadsheets account. That’s the first time I’ve seen a really big, non-technology organization using Firefox.
From one of the ticket kiosks at Cinemark Tinseltown. Does this mean that they’re still running Windows 95? I’m not sure, because I think the title bar actually says ‘Wm95’. By the way, did you know that those kiosks display how many seats have been sold for a given showing? I’ll grab a photo the next time I’m there and explain where it’s shown.
I thought this was clever packaging for a CSI-esque PC game called Evidence: The Last Ritual. It was only going for $30, but got decent enough reviews. I haven’t played a sleuthing, problem-solving game like this since, uh, The Colonel’s Bequest.
I liked the look of this messenger bag, and I might buy it. It’s a nice soft, chocolately leather. I thought it was from Fossil, but apparently not. It was at the Bay. That’s a lame final story, I know, but what’re you going to do?
I was so confused when that Evidence game came into where I work. My first reaction was “Why do we have RCMP evidence in our big box of games?”
