We made a 24-hour blitzkrieg trip down to Seattle to help send Chris and Ponzi off into wedded bliss. It truly was a geeky affair, with cameras and x-point-oh jokes everywhere. The couple even read their vows off a couple of tablet PCs (what were those, precisely?).
It was also an extremely classy affair, and had a nice intimate feeling. Having been married in December myself, I’m a big fan of the winter, evening wedding. It also, as a rule, enables the most formal of formal wear.
Speaking of formal wear, I managed to forget my suit in Vancouver. Happily, the I5 passes a bunch of outlet stores, so I had my first American outlet experience. I survived intact, and frankly, got some absurd deals. I got a black jacket and trousers that didn’t match precisely, but were, as they say, close enough for government work. I also bought a couple of ties, because they were cheap. You can see both jacket and new tie in action.
Sartorial crisis notwithstanding, everybody had a great time. Congratulations to Chris and Ponzi!
A post about a geeky wedding wouldn’t be complete without a bunch o’ of related links:
- Chris’s wedding vows
- Ponzi’s wedding vows
- The text from the ceremony (they had a very charismatic JP)
- Other posts from attendees: Robert, Jeff, Julie (her kids made delightful flower girls), Derek
- There are 200 photos and counting, and Boris, Robert, Kris and Arieanna haven’t uploaded theirs yet.
UPDATE: Julie Leung writes say that the devices were probably TabletKiosk eo v7110s. It gets a pretty negative review from CNET.
Just to add to the geekiness; Ponzi looks a LOT like the beautiful Alyx Vance/Jamil Mullen from Half Life 2.
There were too many people to say “hi” to that I never made it over to you!
