I missed this story when it happened in mid-November, but read about it on our deputy mayor’s new blog. Tim Harvey circumnavigated the globe under his own power (well, the wind helped) and recently pitched up back in Vancouver. It took him 893 days to make the trip:
He left Vancouver in June 2004 with fellow adventurer Colin Angus, biking and canoeing to Alaska before hitting the Bering Sea in a sailboat converted to a rowboat.
At the mercy of a major storm, the two men were saved from being smashed onto rocks when a Russian research vessel responded to their distress call.
