I’m afraid they’re nothing to write home about, but here’s a little Flickr photo set of my trip to Ottawa. One of the photos shows the peculiar green sticks that I referred to in an earlier post.
This photo tells a mildly amusing story. I had wanted to go to a play at the National Arts Centre while I was in the city. I had no idea where it was, so I looked it up while sitting on the bed in my hotel room. Once I brought up the NAC’s website, I recognized that, yep, there it is, right outside my window.
I went to see John Mighton’s “The Little Years”. Great venue, totally uninteresting play.
There’s no Wikipedia entry for John Mighton. This highlights how geek-centric the online encyclopedia still is. The guy’s written a bunch of plays, won major awards (including the Governor General’s Award) and even had a small role in Good Will Hunting. There’s 700 words on an obscure computer game from 1986, but the award-winning playwright’s got nothing.
So did you start the page for him?
It’s on my list of things to do.
hmm
@#2
Well obviously not before your list of things I can bash Wikipedia for. 🙂
Thanks for coming to Ottawa, Darren. Great to meet you. And, thanks for speaking at the two gigs.
The green “sticks” are sticking in my craw… if their function is to protect light posts from snow plows then why are the green markers on the ‘inside’ of the poles? (ie the non-street side)
Dude, snow falls on sidewalks too
(the sidewalks are also plowed).
I hear in the news that the powers that be have sent some snow to Vancouver to demonstrate.
