The basic premise reminded me of this fan-altered comic (via MonkeyFilter), although the comic was obviously meant more as a sombre social commentary than the Robot Chicken segment.
I thought as much….
I disagree with Ross, the first thing I thought about the video was yet again somebody using Calvin & Hobbes to grind their ax–and pretty much the exact same ax as the altered comic. I didn’t find the video that funny because the whole point of C&H is that Calvin’s imagination goes wild but rarely psycho (in my layman’s interpretation, since he never acts out his destructive fantasies). And yeah, I get the point of the video that society would think Calvin has a problem when in fact society has a problem, but it’s just another ax. Or maybe I’m just blinded by nostalgia.
I remember reading in one of the C&H compendiums that Watterson never, ever licensed C&H for any merchandise or film (confirmed by Wikipedia), something for which I respect him immensely.
