I’m a little late on this, as my fellow organizers Brian, Boris and Kris have already mentioned it, but Northern Voice 2007 is on!
Unfortunately, due to increased demand, UBC Robson Square was unavailable this year. We asked the community with a quick survey, and the response was that price mattered more than location. So, we’re out at UBC’s main campus this year at the Forest Sciences Centre.
No word of a lie: last December I was out at UBC for our Northern Voice speaker selection meeting, and met my sister for lunch. We met at the cafeteria in the Forest Sciences Centre, and I was blown away by the building. It has an enormous atrium, and really cool rooms. Check out Cyprien’s photos. So, while it’s a change from downtown, we’re super happy with the building out at UBC.
We have a barebones site up at the moment, and speaker submissions are officially open.
I’ll be sure to get my ticket early this year. I’m determined not to miss out on this three years in a row!
Ahem… when do they go on sale?
I **love** the forestry building at UBC man, what a great place to study in the evenings.. wish I could go!
Awesome! Please keep us updated here about when tickets go on sale. Any idea what to expect in terms of pricing?
If I go to this, I won’t feel so bad that I can’t make it to BlogHer in Chicago next year… (Grrr @ my 2 friends who are both having destination weddings next year, chewing up my entire vacation budget plus a couple thousand in savings. GRRR!) The conference looks great. Can I vote for another session on design? Just look at my blog. I need help with design!
Glad to hear it’s back again. Keep us posted on dates and cost.
Darren:
I’m definitely looking forward to next year’s Northern Voice. This time round I’ll know more people (I hung out with the co-op kiddies from UBC’s OLT office last time), so I’ll have more fun networking! I also heard a rumor about an OLT ceviche party that I’ll have to look into……
Forestry Centre looks great. I work on campus and someone seems to have built another building when I wasn’t looking!
See y’all soon.
Cheers,
Patricia
