While working away this morning, a song by my multi-talented friend Matthew (that’s him on the left, with sound engineer Mike Low) popped up in iTunes. A couple of years ago he recorded a bunch of his songs on an album called ‘I Wrote This For a Girl’. You may recall that a while back I cited his Civilization-inspired Gaelic romp The Night the Aztecs Stormed Glasgow.
Matthew’s away acting and directing in some small BC town, but I’m sure he wouldn’t mind if I shared a couple more tunes:
All his songs, inevitably, are about a girl. He needs a MySpace page.
Not MySpace. Billy Bragg recently pulled a bunch of his songs because of MySpace’s licensing agreement wherein they get nonexclusive rights to reuse any content published therein for any reason and in perpetuity. I can’t find the link to the story, but I read it like two days ago 🙂
MySpace clarified their terms; it was lawyer speak that was kinda overreaching, but they’ve made their intent and limitations more clear.
And Bissett’s tunes are great!
Matthew is oooooooooold friend of mine – do you have a way of letting him know I am out here???? I would really love to get in touch with him if there is any possibility … please let me know.
