Rent Your Chest and 25 Peeps

Chris Pirillo, man of 1000 promotions, recently revised his classic site Rent My Chest. He no longer writes stuff on his chest (quite time consuming that), but is running a vast array of keywords across it. The idea here is that you’re a travel agent, and you pay to get the word ‘Travel’ or ‘Ibiza’ in big, bold, yellow letters to link to your site. It’ll probably drive some traffic, but mostly you’re buying an incoming link from a PR 6 website.

Speaking of chests, Jessica points to 25 Peeps, another random blog traffic driver. Here you submit a photo, and it kicks around in the front page gallery, people click on it and it takes them back to your blog. I’ve just done so, but I suspect my lack of cleavage will reduce my odds to getting much incoming traffic.

Both cases (and there are dozens of others–BlogExplosion springs to mind) are examples of goofy traffic generators. I guess the idea is that you drive people to your site, where they might convert to actual readers. For these sorts of gimmicks, though, I often think the conversion rate must be ridiculously low.

That said, I’m sure Chris will make a mint off his chest. Again.

  1. Darren: Do you recommend Flickr? I am thinking of buying a professional account. Do you recommend it?

  2. Bobby: In terms of a site to store and share photos, absolutely. I haven’t done a serious assessment for a while, but I’m very happy with Flickr.

I don’t know if you’ll need a pro account–it depends on what you want to do with your photos. Obviously pro accounts support higher bandwidth per month, and a larger size per photo on Flickr’s servers. That’s handy for me, but it may not be a requirement for you.

If you’re unsure, I’d try the free version for a while first.

  3. I must admit, I don’t quite get what Chris is doing here. Sure, he’ll probably make money. I don’t doubt that.

But the software that runs this site is called Link Sizzler, and its web site screams “I SELL MULTILEVEL PRODUCTS!!”

    http://www.linksizzler.com/

What is amazing here is that this fellow claims to have sold this code at prices from $500-$1000.

And all it is, let’s face it, is a mail form and some admin stuff. But think about it. Why not just a simple mail form?
    1. Your name
    2. What keyword do you want
    3. Instructions on how to send $ through Paypal.

Why on Earth would anyone buy this?

  4. LoL!

When I redesigned my site 4 monthes ago from a static artists site that was very rarely updated to a blog I had stumbled across 25peeps and submitted my photo to it. The submission was two months ago. I honestly didn’t believe it would be put up and had forgotten about it. Then last night in my inbox there was this email saying Jessica Doyle you are liveon 25peeps.

I’ve joined a small number of blog traffic generaters, trying them all briefly to test them out. The only one I use/like is BlogMad, simply because I like the blogs I get to surf around to. I have a control panel where I can block specific genres I do not want to surf. It is a new way to find great blogs to read. I’ve made some new online aquaintances this way and have come to enjoy seeing familiar sites where for the most part I stay and read for longer than the required 25 seconds especially when commenting.

It’s funny what we do when we are learning about blogging technology, for me anyway.

LOL – I’m stuck between two sets of boobies right now on 25peeps. he he he

I tried blogexplosion for 2 days, surfing around however their user control panel and rules are rather complicated. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The rent my chest looks a lot like tagspage.com except of course their is no man’s chest behind the tags 😉

    cheers!
