Boxing Out the Globe's Population

I’m not sure how I got there, but Neoformix points to this super-groovy tree map created by the Hive Group. It’s a little Java app that shows the countries of the world and their relative population. You can drag the little sliders around for different views, or sort by continent.

I had no idea, for example, that Mexico has three times the population of Canada. I’m not sure what I thought the population of Mexico was, but not 105 million.
