Neatorama links to a photo gallery documenting a mountain road in the Yungas region of Bolivia. From Presurfer:
The road is so small and narrow there’s actually space for only one truck and the humidity and water jumps in certain turns make the ground tremendously slippery. The wages of the drivers of these vehicles are so low that they are forced to work more hours than the recommendable ones.
The road up to Monteverde in Costa Rica was pretty freaky, especially in a torrential rain storm, but it didn’t have anything on this.
This road is scarier than it looks in the photos. I rode the length of it on a bike with Gravity Bolivia (http://www.gravitybolivia.com) and it was awesome. The scariest part: downhill traffic, even bikes, must drive on the left-hand side (the side with the drop-off). This is because those drivers will be able to look out their windows and see if their wheel is going off the side. No joke. If anyone ever goes to Bolivia, this is a must-do.
I would like to buy a DVD of The Deadliest Road program I saw on the History Channel! can you send me a link? I have done some searching on the History website and got no results.
Thanks,
Diane
I also watched The Deadliest Road on the History Channel-hats off to the narrator who did the tour with his guide the mayor. I don’t think I could make the trip but I enjoyed watching it thnx again
why don’t you just show the pictures of the road. instead of all this run around. you aught to staighten up.
I so intrested in seeing this on the History channel.. Can you please give me the dates, and times? Thank You so much. ~Patrice Bishop~
