Mt. Baker on a Clear Day

I took this photo the other day, because I was struck by how clear Mt. Baker looked from my apartment. I probably messed about with it too much in Photoshop, but here’s the result:

Mount Baker at its Clearest

The plane, believe it or not, was a happy accident. Here’s another one that didn’t get Photoshopped.

UPDATE: I got curious about how far away Mt. Baker actually was. According to Gmap Pedometer (now with permalinks, hurray!), it’s about 110 kilometres to the summit. I also noticed that Google Maps has updated the satellite photos of my neighbourhood. Judging by the completeness of the nearby buildings, I’d say that they’re now only about 18 months old.

  1. Funny, the Cirque du Soleil tents are up so I thought Google Maps was even more up to date than that, but on closer look it must just have been the last time they were here.

  2. very cool. I’m on Vancouver Island so the closest I can get is a similar view of Mt. Benson.
