For the Locals: I Need Nerds and Sea Monkies

Does anybody know where I can pick up some boxes of Nerds candies and packages of Sea Monkies? I can order them online, but I’m hoping to find a local pusher.

  1. Toys R Us has Sea Monkeys.

    You can also buy brine shrimp, but I get the feeling you want the special packaging, not just the monkeys.

    But nothing beats ordering from the back of a Richie Rich comic circa 1980.

  2. You can buy Nerds at Cambie General Store: 18th and Cambie. I know because my girlfriend is addicted to them.

  3. If I’m not mistaken, you can buy both at the Candy Aisle on 4th Ave. near Arbutus. (http://www.candyaisle.com/)
    They, at the very least, will have several types of nerds and the last time I was there, I’m sure I saw sea monkeys. They also have tons of American and British candy bars.

  4. The Candy Aisle near me on Broadway just closed (unfortunately) and they did carry that sort of thing. Now, there is another similar store on 4th (I think it’s near the magazine store “Does your mother know”) has a slightly different name but it definitely sells nerds, wigwags, pixie sticks etc…. I wandered in there one day looking for Wint-o-green lifesavers because a co-worker of mine told me that if you stand in front of the mirror in the dark and crack one inbetween your teeth you will see sparks in your mouth (it really works! It has something to do with triboluminescence).

    The sea monkies might be trickier. I think those were exclusively mail order.

  6. Definitely the Candy Aisle on 4th has both (or did, in the past).

    Btw, the Candy Aisle on Broadway has moved to Burnaby, and Cupcakes has taken its place.

  8. Sea Monkeys are awesome. I had some at work last year. Everyone thought I was crazy until the SMs got big enough to see. But then they started mating (which involves two SMs to be stuck together for days) and I thought that was a tad inappropriate for an office setting. They eventually died off.

  11. There a few intriguing points in time in this post but I do not know if every one of them center to heart. You can discover some validity but I’ll take hold opinion until I explore it further. Superb post , thanks so we want more! Combined with FeedBurner too
