George Lucas and Our Childhood

After watching the amusing William Shatner fete George Lucas, I went looking for more footage from the AFI Life Achievement Awards. I really dig those events. Assuming it’s a filmmaker I like, the retrospectives and roasting can be pretty entertaining.

I happened upon this catch tune: George Lucas Raped Our Childhood by the Hot Waffles. Here are some sample lyrics from the bridge:

George Lucas came down in the form of a giant Swamp bat to abduct my childhood from where it was innocently picking flowers by a stream.
And I swear as sure as the twin sunset on Tatooine that I will never give Lucas another dollar of my money… at least until the Episode 3 Super Special Edition DVDs come out, I gotta get those.

The funny bit is that they perform the song to fanboys waiting in line for Episode 3 in front of the Mann’s Chinese Theatre in LA.

  1. Brilliant.

I like the fact that you can tell that their video budget was spent almost entirely on action figures and scale models of guitars, drumkits, etc.

And yet it’s a lot more of a conversation piece than almost anything on the music video channels.
