The other day Travis referenced Overheard in Vancouver, a new blog:
Overheard in Vancouver is online repository of overheard conversations from around Vancouver, British Columbia. Have you ever been walking down the street or in line at the grocery store and couldn’t help but overhear the person next to you? Of course! We all have. Well this site is about just that.
This one’s pretty funny, but they could be a little more selective about which overheard conversations they post–they’re batting a little low on the humour average for me. I’ll try to submit my own, should I hear something worth repeating.
It’s a good idea, though, and one that started with Overheard in New York. I did a little searching, and there’s a bunch of these sites out there now, from Bucharest to Singapore to Dublin. They’re also getting site specific, as in offices or law schools.
Thanks for the link Darren. I admit myself that the content on the site is a little lacking and yes some overheard conversations are funnier than others. But don’t forget the site has only been going for just under a week now. But that’s where you come in. Just keep your ears open and if you overhear something funny please send it in.
Thanks again for the article.
Hi!
Glad you found our website 🙂 I don’t think you understood the texts in Romanian..
Yesterday, the website received an award for the best blog with several authors and we will soon launch the overheardin.ro/city – version, for every city in the country!
Keep in touch!
I noticed the site as well and now I’m green with envy. It may not look like much now, but the idea is so simple and the Blog is bound to attract lots of attention with minimal work by the creators. Alas, if only my opinions were worth more than 10 page views a day…
