Last Thursday, we went to the new Railspur Alley Cafe on Granville Island. On Thursday evenings they have jazz performances in their little bistro, and we saw Kate Hammett-Vaughan sing with a guitar and bass duo.
Railspur Alley is a newly (to me, anyway) developed pedestrian street on the Island, featuring a bunch of random little shops. It’s a little out of the way, but worth looking for.
The Cafe is quaint, and has a little patio. The food was apparently pretty average, but it was very affordable. There’s a dearth of cool places on Granville Island where two people can eat dinner for less than $50 (I don’t think the Cat’s Meow or Sammy J. Peppers qualify as ‘cool’). For that reason alone, the Cafe is a good option.
I know this cafe…I walked down through Granville Island a different way than usual recently and accidentally “discovered” this cafe and a few art galleries. It’s funny how no matter how many times you go down there there is always something new to discover.
It’s a great space, with delicious food, reasonable prices annnnnd… (drumroll)… free WiFi!
