For the Locals: A Recommendation for the Railspur Alley Cafe

Last Thursday, we went to the new Railspur Alley Cafe on Granville Island. On Thursday evenings they have jazz performances in their little bistro, and we saw Kate Hammett-Vaughan sing with a guitar and bass duo.

Railspur Alley is a newly (to me, anyway) developed pedestrian street on the Island, featuring a bunch of random little shops. It’s a little out of the way, but worth looking for.

The Cafe is quaint, and has a little patio. The food was apparently pretty average, but it was very affordable. There’s a dearth of cool places on Granville Island where two people can eat dinner for less than $50 (I don’t think the Cat’s Meow or Sammy J. Peppers qualify as ‘cool’). For that reason alone, the Cafe is a good option.

  1. I know this cafe…I walked down through Granville Island a different way than usual recently and accidentally “discovered” this cafe and a few art galleries. It’s funny how no matter how many times you go down there there is always something new to discover.
