In January, I complained about PreFound, a new search engine that enables you to “search what people have already found”. I called them “very Web 1.0” because they lacked unique URLs for search results, didn’t have RSS feeds and required a download to participate in their search community.
Subsequently, I had a few friendly email exchanges with a company executive where I fleshed out my arguments. I assume they heard these complaints from other people (Lord knows they shouldn’t rely on me), because they made a bunch of improvements:
- Unique URLs for searches
- RSS feeds on all user pages and featured finder pages (don’t ask me what those are)
- A means of posting links without downloading an EXE file. Plus, they offer import from del.icio.us, Furl and Yahoo’s MyWeb 2.0.
Kudos to PreFound for listening, making changes, and letting me know after they’re made.
