Does Anybody Speak Dutch?

Through means that, well, we can’ t quite remember, we got one of our rare ‘lifestyles’ (meaning non-geeky) clients into a Dutch magazine about dogs. It’s Zino, the ‘magazine voor de moderne hondenliefhebber’. I’m guessing that means the ‘magazine for the modern dog-lover’.

The article is entitled Kunst in Zino (PDF). If anybody out there speaks Dutch, it’d be great if you could read it and give us the gist of what it says. We’re not looking for a word for word translation, just the article’s themes and any glowing praise or hateful criticism in the piece.

UPDATE: Thanks very much to Jade, who very kindly provided a translation (see below).

  1. Translation:
Everyone has a story to tell and quardopeds are no eception. They play, nuzzle, sharemoments with us they we never want to forget. With some luck we suceed in capturing these emotions on film. From puppy to adult dog, we cherish the golden memories we share. Echo memoirs specializes in compiling an artistic photobook with no equal. Of course, this come with a pricy tag. The first copy can cost up to $3000 dollars. A copy of the original is about $250. That’s pretty hefty, but there are no less than 200 hours invested in the making of a hardcover book.

That each one is unique, speaks for itself. It is afterall about your sweety and your moments together. Samanth Reynold picked up on this idea about 8 years ago and began the publishig of her first book in 2001. The former journalist and freelance graphic designer didn’t have a very positive inspiration for her first project. Her grandmother, whom she’d known to be a women who loved life and was full of spunk, began to suffer from demensia. Because Sam wanted to remember the special moments she compiled a beautiful picture book. It represented the story of her life. Other loved the idea and wanted (in their own way) their stories eternalized.
At a certain moment Sam was contacted by a woman who had remaind childless and was very attached to her dog. this was the first time shed done a book about a dog and their owner

In the mean time, dogs have played the leading role in more than half of the requests that Sam and her team fulfill. We all know how fast thousands of details can be forgotten of the loving moments we share with our dogs.

During a 3 month period and many details conversations, Sam and her team compile a lovely table book that shaers the lifestory of your family and pet in beautful pictures and prose. To do this, she usually needs about 40 pictures that are borrowed, edited and returned. If theses are not available, she arranges for a photoshoot. The endresult rivals a perfectionsist’s work. Even the colors of the cover are customized to fit your interior.

Do you want to read more, go to http://www.echomemroies.com. There you can read Sam’s story and get in touch with her directly. If you want a jewel of a photobook under your tree for X-mas, you need to hurry.

    (sorry for the typos) 🙂

  2. I don’t speak Dutch, and Jade provided a lovely translation, but it was hilarious to translate the site with altavista babelfish. I wound up with “simply wondrous hondenweetjes..” among other things. And who wouldn’t want wondrous hondenweetjes?
Enjoying the site and the Canadian views. Thank you.
