StatCounter (Actually Doesn’t) Suck

I recently implemented StatCounter on a couple of Bryght sites I run (namely, GeekyTraveller and QA Podcast). I liked the stats it delivered, but the site itself has been down more often than it’s been up in the last week.

Currently I’m using the free version of their service. I’d have considered upgrading, but not at the current level of service. At this level of service, I’m looking for an alternative solution. Does anybody have any favourites? I’m definitely looking for an ‘invisible web bug’. That means that it can’t be a server log analysis solution, and I’m not down with little rainbow icons sitting on all my pages.

I know I shouldn’t be greedy, but, hey Bryght guys, you could solve my problem by implementing a native, robust stats package. Surely one already exists for Drupal?

UPDATE: Oddly, StatCounter.com still appears to be down, but I was able to access the site via my3.statcounter.com.

UPDATE #2: Clearly, this is some local caching problem, or some such bollocks. Everybody else can access the site but me, apparently.
