LazyWeb Request: A Vancouver Plumber

Does anybody know a good plumber? We have a couple and non-critical plumbing issues to resolve, and I’d rather not just look in the phone book. If you know someone, please e-mail me. I’ll also post this on, AskLocally::Vancouver.

UPDATE: We found a great plumber, which you can read about here.

  1. Generally speaking I’ve heard Roto-Rooter is expensive but worth the money. Not a recommendation, just a rumour.

  2. Don’t know a plumber but do know that most little problems can be fixed yourself. It might take purchasing some tools and maybe grab a book from the library for odd details (or give me an email – my preWife and i have done a fair bit of plumbing). Likely cheaper in the end and plus you get a little bit more knowledge 🙂

  3. I came here looking for a plumber and noticed the recommendation for Hillcrest. The reason I am here is because of the lack of professionalism in the guy that came to see us from Hillcrest.

    Thanks,
    Carl

  4. I know this is a little late but I came across this new site that has everything you basically need for your home .
All types of contractors , plumbers etc..
Pretty cool site . I received free estimates from their quote service . Hope it helps.

  5. Am in the same boat after the aforementioned Hillcrest Plumbing let us down by not showing up on the appointed day, for which I had taken a half day off of work. My girlfriend had made the appointment, but it was me who called them up to find out what happened.

They had no record of our appointment. Then they drop this bombshell: There are two companies named Hillcrest Plumbing, with locations in Kerrisdale across the street from one another! Apparently they were sold by the owner to two of his nephews.

So I wait for my girlfriend to get home from work. Sure enough, it was the other Hillcrest Plumbing that she called. So I phoned that Hillcrest, and it turns out they had buried our request and had scheduled us a week later.

Here’s the thing: The two Hillcrests really confuse the issue online. In the phone book, one company is called “Hillcrest Plumbing Discount Centre” and the other is “Hillcrest Plumbing” in the advert and “Hillcrest Plumbing and Heating” in the listing. However, the “Hillcrest Plumbing Discount Centre” website is at hillcrestplumbing.com, but the title of the website is “Hillcrest Plumbing and Heating”, while the “Hillcrest Plumbing” or “Hillcrest Plumbing and Heating” website is at hillcrestplumbingandheating.com, and the website’s title is “Hillcrest Plumbing and Heating”. Confused yet?

So considering one Hillcrest is too incompetent to show up when they said they would and they’re both so incompetent that they trade with exactly the same DBA but apparently don’t talk to one another, I’ve decided to rebook the appointment with a completely different company. I may just try Drain Again.

  6. It is amazing how Search Engine Friendly WordPress really is, when searching for “Plumber in Vancouver” Darren’s site comes up as one of the first listings in Google!

  9. I hired a guy named frank from http://eclipseplumbing.ca . Showed up pretty quick, and gave me a bit of a break because the last guy I had in (won’t mention any names) didn’t properly fit my drainage pipe under the sink.
