As locals probably know by now, a BC ferry crashed into Sewell’s Marina when it lost power coming into West Vancouver’s Horseshoe Bay. Happily, it looks like nobody was killed or injured.
I’ve been monitoring the local blogosphere and Flickr to see if there are any first-person accounts, but thus far I’ve come up empty. Has anybody found anything from local residents?
UPDATE: As many of you have noticed, somebody did upload some photos of the accident. A source also emailed me a few images that were taken later in the day. My faith in the blogosphere is restored.
I actually heard about this on the TV first… I was tuned to the local CTV channel in Vancouver not long after the crash occurred and they had lots of coverage (of course), but then when I switched away to CNN, Kira Phillips actually interrupted her interview with breaking news of the same crash… and then returned to the story a bit later with more footage. Obviously, a ferry crash is a big story (even one with no casualties), and a *big* ferry crashing through and onto the docks and other watercraft is an even bigger story, but I was still a little surprised.
I’m sure the photos, esp. from the passengers who were stuck waiting on the ferry, will come later.
There have been a few photos online since this afternoon. “Horseshoe Bay” was misspelled in the tags, which might be why you didn’t find then.
You need bayosphere for yr bay
