Today I visited the south terminal of Vancouver’s airport, to pick somebody up at the seaplane docks. We then ate dinner at the Flying Beaver pub. I’d never been before, but know it by it’s excellent reputation. I’m not alone in this, because the place–despite being kind of in the middle of nowhere–was totally packed. The food was tasty and the beer was cheap–CAN $2.50 for a pint on special!
On my way there, I stopped at a strange little plane-spotting park and took a bunch of photos. There’s a bunch of strange signs, and one of those compasses on the ground that points to destinations around the world. I also spotted some goslings and their parents.
Finally, in unrelated photo news, people seem to think this elevator self-portrait makes me look like Agent Smith.
UPDATE: Filmgoerjuan writes with this rendering of me as Agent Smith, which, admittedly, is a bit eerie.
If you feel like doing the grand tour of airport restaurants, the terminal in Chilliwack is reknowned for its most excellent pies.
Totally like Agent Smith. Great photo.

This photo makes you completely look like Agent Smith!

The Flying Beaver Pub is an awesome place. Hung around there lots waiting for the plane back to Island.
I’m just a lurker, so maybe I shouldn’t complain, but…
It would be nice if you and other online-photo-sharers would eliminate duplicates from your photo sets. I saw two torn windsocks and two or three similar geese pictures. More clicking or slideshow waiting for naught. Being selective will get you a more effective photoset, not to mention simplify my life.
Or maybe Flickr needs some sort of mechanism to let users create long and short “best-of” slide shows.
Otherwise, thanks for sharing and letting me discover a neat place. Sorry to focus my rant on you, it was just a glaring example, but many others do the same.
Whoa
Andy: Fair comment. In truth, I think I am pretty selective most of the time, if you look at my other photo sets. I easily took 4 times the number of photos you saw there. If I’d taken more time, there’d be fewer geese photos.
I really dig the windsock photos, so that’s why I kept three of those.
With your recommendation I have been to the flying beaver today. It was pretty nice place to hangout and chillout. Food and Drinks are pretty good too.
I went there around 5 ish and
