Vague Websites

Everyone’s familiar with the vague website. That’s the one where you arrive at the home page and, after a full minute of analyzing the corporate-speak and stock photography, have no idea what they do. Rob, my first grade buddy, passes on Huh Corp, an excellent send-up of this phenomenon.

I was recently pointed to lotusmodern. It appears to be the least usable or comprehensible site in the known universe. It’s got something to do with the local Web design scene, but I can’t tell exactly what. Every once in a while, you need to throw a usability expert at the design staff. If you don’t, this is what happens.

  1. After making happy websites all day prob web designers want a moment of irony…

“lotusmodern” knows what you want but “doesn’t care”. It’s “not your mommy”.

Kind of reminds me of my cat…

  2. Totally awesome. Huh? Corp rules. I wish we could all just talk like that on our “marketing/design solutions” sites. I hate that jargony crap.

  3. The link at the bottom links to a real web company, BuildingOnline.com.

Do you think that the Huh? site is a hostile parody of BuildingOnline’s work, or a fun marketing exercise by the company?

My bet is a disgruntled ex-employee.
