Via Fark, we find this amusing set of driving directions in Norway.

According to my copy of Microsoft Encarta, it’s a mere 524 km as the crow flies between Haugesund and Trondheim. MSN Maps puts it at 2713.19 km and 47.5 hours driving time. I’d say Robert would appreciate this.
It must be a problem with Haugesund data. I found similar results when I asked MSN to map the route from Haugesund to Oslo or Hell. However, asking MSN to provide directions (for any of the three) in reverse gives a much more direct route. Weird.
I was going to add that perhaps there’s no road to Haugesund. My sister-in-law lives nearby in Stavanger, and the only way in is by ferry or plane. However, since you can reverse the directions for a straight route, perhaps MSN Maps is just messed up.
