Fun for the whole fam damily:
- Hold your phone up to your radio and identify the current song (thanks, Tod).
- A project to produce a virtual copy of a closed Disneyland ride. Those Disneyphiles are freakin’ obsessive. Still, it’s an interesting solution to preserving moderately-important buildings that can’t be physically retained (thanks, BoingBoing).
- A solar-powered charger for your iPod. I’m deeply skeptical, as I tried this solar-powered battery charger and was tres disappointed with the results. Maybe I need to live in sunnier climes.
- While searching for my battery charger, I happened upon the frighteningly-named WomenWhoHunt.com. In addition to all the products you’d expect, they have quite an array of hunt-themed lingerie. You never know when you’re going to be tracking feral big-horned sheep in your camouflaged baby doll teddy. Note also the camo apron and over mitts. For the stealth baking, presumably.
- The Found Photos group at Flickr (this one is great) reminds me of the excellent Found Magazine (the Find of the Week section rocks). I see there’s now a spin off (presumably unsafe for work) called DirtyFound.
- The always fascinating Roland Piquepaille writes about counting elephants from space.
- UPDATE: Lots of folks are referencing this, but I wanted to point to this decent interview (oddly) with an interviewer who spoke to the famous reclusive Hayao Miyazaki. Miyazaki is the Spielberg of Japanese animation. I’ve only seen a couple of his films, but they’re remarkable. Go rent Spirited Away and get your head bent.
In addition to ‘Spirited Away’, I’d recommend ‘My Neighbor Totoro’ and ‘Castle in the Sky’.
Remarkable director.
And I’ll add Princess Mononoke and for the younger set, Kiki’s Delivery Service.
