Queer Rock on Mars

Not queer as in gay. Queer as in weird (it bothers me slightly that I have to clarify that, but what’re you going to do?). Regardless, the folks at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab must be riding a year-long high, as their rovers continue roving over Mars. Today, one of them discovered a particularly interesting-looking rock. I know, the average non-four-year-old might not find that exciting, but I’ll bet the NASA guys were soiling themselves:

“We’re curious about it too. We have Mini-TES data on it now, and they suggest that it may actually be made of metal,” said Steve Squyres, lead scientist on the Mars Exploration Rover mission from Cornell University.

There’s a larger version of the photo, but it’s currently loading like it’s being downloaded from a PII 166 on Mars. To me, the rock in question looks like the tin foil left over after I finish a Steamrollers burrito.
