Weird Art and a Request for Translation

I recently discovered this peculiar set of clay discs mounted on the back side of a traffic sign near my apartment building. The discs have weird inscriptions in them, which can be seen better in this close-up. In Photoshop, I ratcheted up the unsharp mask to make them stand out better. Someone has written in Spanish (I think) on the back of the sign–hopefully it’s an explanation. It’s not the most legible writing, but hopefully some Spanish speaker can make out the text and translate it for me.

  1. Like you say, the handwriting isn’t the clearest in the world, but near as I can make out it says something like “Dear (or beloved) territory. I leave you this gift with the desire to give you the opportunity to create life.” HTH.

  2. Wow, that’s an odd piece of art but I wish more things like this happened. It makes you sit and wonder who’s idea it was, why they did that… Which gives me hope in knowing there are still think-outside-the-box artistic people, and that not everyone is an office drone.

Carlos seems to have the translation as right as can be considering the handwriting – I would’ve said the same…

Neat little piece of art 🙂
