Wifi Gadget du Jour

I’ve been meaning to order one of those Wifi-detecting key fobs for a while. However, on BoingBoing today I read about a cooler device which displays the network’s name, signal strength, channel and encryption status.

Clearly, the The Digital Hotspotter is a superior device. There’s one problem: how big is it? Is it the size of my thumb, my hand, my head? The product page doesn’t say, and I checked three or four other reviews that didn’t mention the size either.

Finally, I went to Canary Wireless’s home page (the last place a Google searcher is likely to go–your home page is the least important page on your website) where there’s a somewhat helpful photo of a dude in a suit holding the device. His hand is blocking it, though, so it might be the size of a chunky cell phone or a smallish pager. Geeks care about size (heh), so this information ought to be front and centre.
