As regular readers know, I’m getting into this whole business blogging thing. The eBay auction was a first expriment, but it demonstrated to Jeremy and I that there’s a marketing for blog consulting and writing. So, we’ve started InsideBlogging. Readers irritated by all the blogging about blogging will be pleased that a lot of that content will now appear on the The Blog Inside InsideBlogging. I briefly considered calling myself a ‘blogsultant’, but it’s an awful word. I thought I’d coined it, but Brian Clark beat me to it.
Jeremy’s written a good post describing what we’re up to. Here he talks about what we’ll be doing:
The specifics are “to be announced”, however we’re looking to provide two basic classes of services: “traditionaly†blog consulting where we help companies figure out if blogingg’s right for them, help them do the installation and setup and basically try and maximize the return for companies interested in blogging. That could be as simple as setting up a blog and giving them training on how to best use the blog or as complex as setting up multiple blogs, finding writers and trusted sources and ensuring everything flows well on a regular basis (think “Content Director†type roles in a media company).
The second area is actually providing blogging services. This should be fairly self explanatory, but I want to be clear that it isn’t our goal to be “the voice†of companies, not by any stretch. Anything that requires a company-fueled voice should be done by someone in the company. But there are a lot of other areas that blogs can be useful. It’s those that we’ll be focussing on – and judging by the enquiries we’re getting a lot of businesses are thinking along these lines.
The first order of business is, as Jeremy puts it, ‘securing the client deals, finding bloggers, partnering with media and marketing companies’. We’ll also need a real website, but this one will do for now.
