A while back I wrote about making your own stock photography (do it yourself is today’s theme, apparently). Then I discovered iStockPhoto, which apparently lets anybody contribute photos to sell online. For example, Phil recently sold a photo to this site.
Yesterday I read about Image*After, a site that offers ‘non-polished images’ free of charge or usage restriction. I’m not crazy about their site design (classic example of ‘cool but unreadable’), but it could prove a valuable resource for anyone with a modicum of Photoshop skill. Which is exactly how much skill I have. I could see how images like this one or this one could come in handy. If this took off, it’d make a dent in the pay-for-stock photography market.
Thanks for the link to istockphoto. I might upload some of my stuff for their use as well as some of my mom’s photography. Now if anyone actually will use them…. well, that’s another story 🙂
funny, I found that site recently too. Sure beats paying $350 to Corbis.com
