funny thing about the Ian knot, I learned about this knot in a high angle/confined space rescue course that i took in North Van 4 years ago. We didn’t call it the Ian knot tho: to us it was the “California Love Knot” because it was good as a pseudo set of “handcuffs”. Used to keep a patient’s hands within a stretcher so they can be lowered safely down structures or used to put on people’s feet so they can be extracted from tight spots like pipes.
Geez, now I’m going to have that bloody llama song running through my head all night.
