Canucks to Make Major Announcement at 11:00am Today

As a former seasons tickets holder (or some related bollocks), I’m on the Vancouver Canucks’ email list. Today I received a kind of email I’d never received before. It’s a media advisory that the Canucks will be making an announcement at 11:00am this morning. Because I’ve never gotten one of these before, I’d assume it’s a major announcement. My guess is that it’s about the sale of the team–hopefully to local ownership.

Now that I visit their site, I see that their home page actually says “Major Announcement coming at 11:00am PST”. So that’s a hint. You can apparently watch it live over the Web by clicking the Video Player link off the home page.

UPDATE: Bah, I’ve been scooped by the major media. And I haven’t looked at the paper yet this morning. Blame my online reading habits. Apparently wealthy local developer Francesco Aquilini is buying half of the NHL team from American John McCaw.
