Election Prediction

Let me get this out of the way early. Because somebody asked, here’s my prediction for today’s US election: Bush is going to win. It’s going to be close, but history’s least eloquent president is going to squeak through for the victory. I don’t really have any sound reasoning for this, it just seems to me the likelier outcome. Despite how the Redskins played over the weekend.

On a related note, Richard writes to suggest this article from Slate, which defends the American electoral college system.

On another related note, here’s an amusing Fark Photoshop contest.

  1. Would you care to make a little wager on that Darren?

I’m betting on Kerry – although I have my doubts about how fairly the election will be conducted (And WHY do they have to use touch screens and card-punchers anyway? All we ever use is a pencil!)

  2. I hope your wrong.

If you believe the ‘oracles’ Kerry is in. The 13 keys points to Kerry winning the popular vote, there is the redskins game, the DOW Jones Index fell more than .5% in October. Only ‘oracle’ in agreement is the mock vote done in the schools, kids voted 60% in favour of Bush – eeek! The only ‘oracle’ that is confused is the fashion industry and didn’t make a prediction.

*sigh* think I have sent too much time lurking on mefi – I need some timbits and poutine 🙂
