Via Game Girl Advance, I read about the forthcoming EA game, Lord of the Rings: The Third Age. I haven’t bought a game in a while, and the screenshots look pretty cool. Unfortunately, they apparently don’t plan on releasing it for the PC, my gaming platform of choice.
Regardless, they have some nifty videos about designing the game, In particular, check out Life into Characters, which discusses the role that actors play in game design and development. There’s plenty of amusing footage of dot-covered peformers racing around in unitards waving rubber weapons. It was somewhat surprising to me that they’re trying to use the same actors for mo-cap, voice acting and facial expressions.
