This is only for the alcohol-drinking Vancouveries, who, if my demographic analysis is correct, make up a significant portion of my readership. Through the grapevine I heard that Johnny Walker is hosting a scotch tasting at Aqua this week. Apparently you have to go to their site to sign up. Figured it might be of interest to the locals.
Speaking of Johnny Walker’s site, this is a serious Web application at work. I think it’s hilarious how, before you can enter the site, you must specify your province of origin, date of birth and click on a button labelled “Being the Journey”. Subsequently, if you navigate through and click on their “Tasting Events” page, you’re asked if you “Want to attend a tasing event?” Now, I don’t know a lot about non-lethal police weapons, but I think I’ll pass on this tasing business.
I went to this event last night. They put you in a holding room, give you a Johnny Walker drink of your choice, then sit you down for a 45 minute presentation and tasting. You taste 4 different scotches. For those who don’t know Glenlivet from Dalwhinnie it was pretty interesting. I’d say worth it to go if you want to learn a little. I was fine walking out of there, but my GF was kinda fuzzy after all the tastings…
