On Wednesday, I was surprised to read a story about an email newsletter on the cover of the Vancouver Sun’s Arts and Life section. Vitamin V (Flashosity ahead) looks to be yet another shallow Vancouver publication in a sea of superficial content. What can I say? We’re a pretty frivolous city.
I was surprised because new email newsletters (they call it a ‘Web magazine’) are hardly newsworthy events. Then I noted that the publisher of Vitamin V is a PR consultants. That can make all the difference, and is probably the sole reason this is getting coverage in a newspaper like the Sun. PR professionals turn your non-news into something worth printing, and then get it printed. That’s golden to the average company.
Yep. They utter crap.
