It’s about time this showed up. Via Engadget, here’s an iTunes plugin that apparently enables you to move audio files from your iPod to your computer (Mac only). Apple obviously doesn’t want you to do this, as it apparently fosters piracy. All I want to do is move my music from my Windows machine to my laptop via my iPod–there’s nothing implicitly illegal in that act.
The original developer’s site was shut down, but here’s a mirror. You might want to grab it promptly, as it’s not likely to last long. I’m currently trying it out on my 12″ PowerBook. It’s not immediately apparent how it works, but I’ve dragged and dropped and my laptop is very busy.
UPDATE: Sweetness. It works like a charm.
Uh, for Windows machines there is of course iPodAgent- works like a charm! http://www.ipodsoft.com/ipodagent.aspx . There are many other tools that allow ipod downloads for windows platforms but this one is quite stable and usable, imho. Note RSS news feed uploads as well… 🙂
The old fashioned way, of course, is just to use your iPod as a FireWire hard drive instead of as a music player. Plug it in, wipe it, drag the files from your iTunes Music folder over in the Finder, then drag them to the computer on the other end, just like any other drive. Doesn’t preserve playlists and such, but you can move those files too using the same process.
I did not use that way
my friend recommend me to use ipod transfer software
