Via Waxy, we find this great game mod that converts Battlefield: 1942 to a Star Wars universe. The screenshots look astonishingly professional. Excepting, of course, that the AT-ATs appear to be hovering. I’ve played Battlefield:Vietnam, and was impressed with the physics, the realism of the game play and the fun soundtrack.
What’s more interesting is that Lucas Arts is launching Star Wars: Battlefront, a very similar-looking, vehicle and aircraft first-person shooter. Here come the lawyers.
UPDATE: I need to correct myself here. According to the original Slashdot story, this is the most recent, 4th version of this mod.
