Photos of the Luas

Earlier in the week I wrote in praise of the Luas, Dublin’s new light rapid transit system. I took it again today, and this time I took a photo of the incredibly bad seat coverings.

What’s with that material? Like that’s going to repel any vomit. Dubliners will recognize the Four Courts and Christ Church Cathedral. A country that’s 94% Catholic and everyone’s ass is on a house of God? Mind you, it’s a Protesant church. I’m just trying to be controversial.

I was sitting at the front of the Luas, and I took a quick shot of the driver. I was examining the Luas dashboard, and was surprised to see that none of the buttons or lights seemed to have labels. There aren’t very many, but it was a little worrying.

  1. Yeeouch!

All I can think of is that they’re designed for people not to inspect them too closely, thereby allowing fewer cleanings and more wear and tear between replacements.

More likely, though, it was chosen by a committee. Committees are usually the ones responsible for bad decisions like this.
