Even though I haven’t actually looked for a job for a couple of years, I regularly read Heather Leigh’s weblog. She’s a marketing recruiter at Microsoft, and provides an inside view of how recruiting works at a large organization (I’ve also never worked for a company with more than 100 employees).
Today she referenced Michael Swanson, who used a life-sized cardboard cut-out of himself to submit his resume to Microsoft. That’s kind of an entertaining read, but more interesting is the 21-minute video interview (WMV, 61 MB, see also the associated forum thread) with Gretchen Ledgard, and Zoë Goldring (who run their own recruiting weblog). I can’t say much for the interviewer’s talents, but Gretchen and Zoë are well-spoken and give a tour of Microsoft’s Building 19, offering plenty of tips for job-seekers.
Or you could read “How Would You Move Mount Fuji”.
