MP3 Bloggers Roundtable

Here’s an interesting roundtable discussion among several MP3 bloggers–people who run weblogs that host digital music. Generally they only host each song for a short period of time, and in most cases blog about millionaire bands. This was an interesting quote:

Lyrics Born, whose new remix I had posted up on request by his label, felt like his song was “getting out there too much” and requested that I take the song down. I did, of course, with no argument, but I do think it’s funny that artists still have this ambivalent attitude toward music online.

Ah, the crippling problem of too much exposure via the Internet. This highlights Barefoot’s 47th maxim: Every artist needs a manager.

This discussion might have benefited from a music industry rep, a record store owner and an artist or two who has been blogged about. Regardless, they did provide a number of new tips on learning about new bands.
