Via Boing Boing’s Canadian representative, we learn about this whimsical new quarter design that celebrates Canada Day. It was designed by an 11-year-old from Saanich, BC, and features a vaguely Bullwinklesque moose. My first reaction was that coins ought to be a little more, I don’t know, traditional and austere than this. Then I thought about it, and what the heck, why can’t coins be quirky?
Mind you, there might be better ways to spend our tax dollars than minting new coin designs, eh?
